I hope you all had a happy, thankful and filling Thanksgiving. Where have we been since the last installment? Boulder, CO to Jordan, MN: We tore ourselves away from Boulder. It was hard to do. We like that city very much! We got caught by some snow and ice traveling from Boulder to Hill City, […]
Dang it! I’m continuing to lose track of time on this adventure. We are still in Boulder, CO, but our time here is winding down. We don’t want to leave. Boulder is a wonderful place. Definitely too expensive (right now) to think of relocating. Boulder’s housing market is pushing outlying areas’ prices up also. We spent […]
Boulder is continuing to encourage and welcome us. The weather couldn’t be more wonderful. It’s getting pretty cold at night, but warming up to the low/mid 60’s most days. We’ve had a few days of rain which translated to a pretty good dump of snow on the peaks. We nearly had a bird’s eye view of […]
Yikes! Sorry about the gap in updates. Doesn’t feel like 2+ weeks. We are officially in Boulder, CO. It is a HUGE change over lil ol’ Burley Idaho. Boulder is bigger and busier than we anticipated. Not a bad thing. Just different. I have to look both ways when I cross the street when I’m walking […]
WEEK 3 This week has come and gone with not a lot to show for it. Our client project is progressing in stops and starts. They are very inexperienced with Web services and the App we are writing for them relies heavily on their systems. The stops gives us plenty of time to continue to explore […]
I’ve completely fallen in love with sculpting in clay. My Friday morning class with Kiki at M.A.C. was very fun. Talented students and an enthusiastic instructor made my time fly by. Why can’t a 10 week course be more like a 100 week course? Oh yeah, I can keep signing up for the same class […]
I played with “slip” tonight. This is a mixture of clay and glaze that you paint, drizzle, blop, etc. on leather hard pieces. The bizarre thing is this example will turn out to be gray/blue. It paints on red.
I made a new leaf “bowl” this week in my art class. I took a different approach this time around. You’ll notice the earlier leaf post got its curve by laying the clay in a bowl form. This second attempt is draped over a form. I’m hoping it will survive.
My sister-in-law has been singing the praises of Multnomah Arts Center for YEARS. She’s suggested I take a class or two for almost as long. I finally took her advice and signed up for two class this Fall. Why did I wait so long?!?! I’m taking an evening class — hand and wheel work in […]
I’m picking up my new Toyota Prius next week. A 2009. How is this possible with a stated 10 month wait when you order a new one? Well… let me tell ya! Eric and I went looking for a Prius on Saturday. Beaverton Toyota had several used models. No new ones. If we put on […]
